It was a good day down by the river this past weekend. Racing is coming thick and fast for Team Green Kawasaki this month and this weekend saw three of the team members racing at Culham Moto Park, alongside the Thames near Oxford for round three of the Michelin MX Nationals.

With Joel Rizzi sitting out this series as he gets to grips proper with his KX85 after moving up from the 65cc class it's left to Dylan Woodcock, Jed Etchells and Lewis Hall to go out and try and win the championship and so far the lads are doing the business. After three rounds Dylan continues to lead the big wheeled 85cc class with Jed in third, while Lewis leads the small wheeled class.

Culham had taken a facelift for round three of the series and looked great and the racers really enjoyed the lay out. After dominating the first day with two come from behind wins it was looking good for Dylan to take another overall win and extend his lead in the championship but bad luck struck in the open in moto of day when a spark plug failed on the start line leaving him way behind and almost a lap down, but after a stellar effort he'd pulled back to 13t by the flag. He followed that up with a strong second in the fourth and final moto to still make the box in third.

Jed's bad luck continued when he nipped a piston ring with a cold seizure before the start of the opening moto and started his day with no points. He then nailed down a fourth and third in the next two motos before bad luck stuck again in the final moto when he couldn't avoid a fallen rider right in front of him on the opening lap and found himself right at the back, but he stormed through to get a sixth and ended up seventh overall.

Lewis came into the weekend really smashed up. Struggling to walk with a swollen knee and jacked up thumb he showed his determination like he does week in week out and used his head to take two race wins and two seconds to take the overall win and extend his championship lead. It was an awesome ride, especially when it turns out he rode some laps with his thumb above the the throttle grip rather than round it to give it a rest!

"The lads rode so strong this weekend. They were all fast and if not for a bit of bad luck I'm sure Dylan could've taken the overall again and Jed would've been joining him on the podium. Both of their rides from the back of the pack when they had bad luck was awesome to watch, they dug deep and rode the wheels of their bikes. Lewis has the heart of a lion, he walking around the paddock like he had a big stone in his shoe but once he got on the bike he found a way to win and he used his head too and rode really smart, so I was pleased with that.”

"It's a bit disappointing not to win because of something like that again, it's just bad luck, it's nobody's fault and it happens. I got my head down and tried to get as far up the pack as I could and I enjoyed ripping through to 13th to salvage some points from a bad situation. I think I only lost two points in the championship so it's pretty good really considering that.”

"I had more bad luck but it won't last forever. I felt good and I'm sure without missing the first race I could've been pushing for the win and be up on the podium. I'm still third in the championship so I can build on that and try and get into second and make it a Team Green 1-2. I'll just keep pushing.”

"I'm really happy because that hurt. I didn't get the best starts and I had to work to get to the front. I made a last corner pass to win the third moto and that meant I could settle for a second in the final moto to win overall which was good because I really banged myself early in the race and was struggling after that so I used my head to win the overall.”
