Team Green takes more wins at Cadwell Park

After a few rounds without a race win, it was excellent to see Leon Haslam and JG Speedfit Kawasaki back on the top step of the podium in the first Superbike race at Cadwell Park yesterday.

Unfortunately Leon's victory in race one was marred by a small mistake in race two that resulted in him crashing out. Even so, Haslam is strongly positioned for the upcoming triple-header at Silverstone before the Showdown begins and his performance at the weekend saw him gain 10 points and five podium credits on Shane Byrne, who retired from race two.

Luke Mossey unfortunately had to sit out Cadwell Park due to the back injury he sustained at Thruxton. With other riders suffering some poor results at Cadwell Park, Mossey remains in sixth position and has a good chance of claiming a Showdown spot.

In the Superstock 1000 Championship, it was a great day for Danny Buchan on the Morello Racing Kawasaki as he took his ninth win of the season after dominating all weekend by qualifying over a second ahead of the next closest rider and taking victory by over five seconds. Buchan now has a commanding lead over his closest title contender, Richard Cooper, in the run up to Silverstone.

It was a tough day for Gearlink Kawasaki rider Andrew Irwin - despite leading both Supersport races, he unfortunately crashed out of both races through no fault of his own and is now left with a mountain to climb for the rest of the season. Irwin's teammate, Ben Currie, had contrasting fortunes with one of his best weekends with the team so far after getting his first double podium with a second place in the sprint race and a third place in the feature race.

Racing Co-ordinator for Kawasaki Motors UK, Ross Burridge, said:

“It was great to see Leon back on the top step of the podium. It's been a long time coming but the team has been working hard behind the scenes with the bike, as has Leon with getting back to full fitness and it showed yesterday with this great result.

“It was also very positive to see Danny Buchan continuing his dominant form in the Superstock 1000 class with the ZX-10RR and we're confident he can push through to regain that championship title for us.”
