Team Green Kawasaki dominate opening rounds of 2019 Arenacross in Belfast

Rounds one and two of the 2019 Arenacross Tour took place over the weekend in front of a lively crowd that packed the SSE Arena in Belfast.

First time Arenacross contender, Greg Aranda dominated the entire weekend by topping every session and winning every race on his more or less stock Kawasaki KX450. The Pro Class racing format consists of qualifying during the day and two heat races in the evening. The top six riders from the two heat races combined go into the Superfinal event. Being the fastest in both practice and qualifying, plus winning the Superfinal on both nights, Aranda set the bar high for the 2019 series.

The Frenchman now takes the red plate into rounds 3 and 4, taking place at Birmingham on the 1st and 2nd of February 2019. “I loved coming to Arenacross for the first time. It's great to race in front of the British crowd and my bike was very strong. It was very cool to win all the races,” commented the 29 year-old.

Teammate, Jack Brunell was also in fine form over the weekend, finishing 5th and 4th in both the Superfinals respectively. With these results, Team Green Kawasaki are the Championship leaders moving into the second of three events for the series which consists of two rounds at each event.

Young gun from Devon, Ben Clayton won three of four races on his KX250 giving Kawasaki the championship lead in the 250cc Rookie class as well. Amongst the many tremendous achievements over the weekend, a sight to behold was the ten Kawasaki KX85 Big Wheel motorcycles lining up at the gate for the Team Green Supermini Cup.

With a multitude of different winners and podium finishers across the weekend, it is set to be one of the most entertaining and closely contested classes throughout the entire Tour. Kawasaki Motors UK Senior Racing Coordinator, Ross Burridge said, “This is the third year that we've entered our own team into the Arenacross Tour and I feel that we have now found our feet, especially in the Pro Class with Greg and Jack performing brilliantly over the course of the weekend. I'd love nothing more than for us to take the team championship title and we have put ourselves in the best possible position to try and achieve this after the first two rounds. Greg was on a completely different level to the rest of the field. And to be this fast on a near stock machine is testament to the new 2019 KX450. The Team Green Supermini class was as exciting as I expected it to be and to see ten of our green machines out there under the lights and in front of a huge crowd was a sight to behold. I can't wait for Birmingham!” Ross exclaimed.
