Strong progress for Team Green at Donington Park

The third round of the British Superbike series took place this past weekend at the iconic Donington Park, in mixed conditions. After a tough start to the season for Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki, the injured Ben Currie was replaced by former MotoGP rider, Hector Barbera.

Having no experience of the Ninja ZX-10RR with no electronic rider aids, Barbera cautiously approached Fridays free practise sessions to acclimatise himself with the bike and the team. Steadily improving throughout the weekend, the Spaniard ended with two top 10 finishes and even setting pole position for the final race! He will now once again join the team for the next round at Brands Hatch whilst Currie continues his recovery.

Glenn Irwin made some solid progress throughout the weekend, whilst at the same time continuing to learn how to improve the bike, which resulted in his first top 10 finish of the season. We now have a test planned at Knockhill immediately after the Isle of Man TT where we hope we can further improve Irwin's confidence with the Ninja machine.

Despite a testing first two rounds for Morello Racing Kawasaki, after some recent positive testing, Chrissy Rouse certainly found his mojo at the weekend and put his Ninja ZX-10RR on the podium not once, but twice! Elevating himself up the championship table, Rouse is now confident of repeating this success at future rounds.

With an adaptation permitted by MSV to the ZX-6R mounted riders in the Supersport class, meaning they can now run a 636cc engine in the 600cc rolling chassis, Gearlink Kawasaki riders Ben Wilson and Ross Twyman found themselves catapulted towards the front of the field with Wilson claiming the best result of the weekend for the team in a fine 4th position in Sunday's feature race.

There were multiple podium finishes in the Junior Supersport class across the weekend's races, with the highlight being Kade Verwey claiming his first victory of the season! Add to that a podium finish for Shane Richardson in the Junior Superstock class on his Ninja ZX-6R and it was certainly a weekend full of highlights.

Next stop will be Brands Hatch on 14-16 June
