Winning season opener for Team Green

There is never a time to rest for Team Green, with round 1 of the Arenacross UK Tour kicking off this past weekend in the sold out Manchester Arena. It was an Arenacross first as riders from the manufacturer backed, Team Green Kawasaki lined up in every class.

Despite not having received an update for some time, the KX65 was ridden to an amazing race 1 win by Ben Mustoe! Not content with his race win, Mustoe also took a fantastic holeshot in race 2, unfortunately taking a small tumble whilst going for his second win of the day.

The Supermini class also had two races throughout the day, and although Arenacross expert Kacey Hird was suffering from a bout of Flu, he used his head to finish on the podium in both, with a brace of second places. Team mate Bobby Bruce, who only found out he had a place on the start gate hours before he lined up, took two fourth places.

Coming into the series arguably as favourite, Dylan Woodcock had a tough opening round on his KX250F in the Pro Lites Class. Over the two races, he took a 3rd and a 6th, ending the evening in 5th place in the title race moving into Glasgow next weekend. Race 2 saw him involved in an incident with George Clarke which unfortunately resulted in a broken wrist for Clarke. We all wish him a speedy recovery.

After the news broke that Tommy Searle was injured, we found Hugo Basaula as his replacement, and both he and Jack Brunnel contested the Pro class on their KX450F's. With varying results in the Heat Races, Brunnel managed to get straight through to the night's Main Event. Team mate Basaula however narrowly missed out and had to go through the LCQ Head to Head race to qualify. Rapidly becoming a crowd favourite, he fought off stiff competition wowing the audience with his aggressive style to join Brunnel in the Main Event.

With a field of ten top flight riders, it was always going to be a tough ask to reach the podium. Brunnel and Basaula finished the night's big race in 5th and 7th respectively, giving Team Green Kawasaki 3rd place in the Team standings after round 1.

The Tour now moves to Glasgow and the Hydro SSE Arena this Saturday.
