Podium in every class for Team Green Kawasaki!
A sell-out crowd packed the Genting Arena in Birmingham for round 3 of the Arenacross Tour on Saturday night, and they witnessed a fantastic feat as Team Green Kawasaki made the podium in every class! From the 65cc's through to the Pro Main Event, the green KX machines were fighting right at the front.
After a steady, yet consistent start, Pro Class KX450F rider, Jack Brunell had an awesome evening finishing 1st and 2nd in his heat races and then storming to a podium position in the Main Event, taking 3rd place, his first of the Tour. This now moves Jack to 5th in the title standings, only 3 points away from 2nd. Team mate Hugo Basaula had a tough evening, not helped by a bout of the Flu, meaning he could only manage 11th in the Main Event.
In the Pro Lites class, Dylan Woodcock was on form once again, taking a well earned 2nd and 3rd positions in the two races on his KX250F. This gave him 2nd overall on the night, and moved him to 2nd place in the Championship standings.
It was a night of mixed emotions in the Supermini class. New recruit, Bobby Bruce has really got to grips with the KX85 and showed the crowd he is capable of fighting right at the front week in week out. His two second places in the nights races gave him 2nd overall and moved him to 2nd in the title standings. Unfortunately, this was marred by the very unfortunate injury to Kacey Hird, who twisted his knee in a rut, which has torn his ACL meaning he will miss the rest of the series. Everyone at Team Green wishes him a speedy recovery, and we hope to see him back in action as soon as possible.
Carrying on his fine form from the first two rounds, KX65 rider Ben Mustoe again showed just how capable he and his KX machine are, taking two fine 3rd places and 3rd overall on the night, completing the quartet of podiums for Team Green Kawasaki.
Senior Racing Co-ordinator for Kawasaki Motors UK, Ross Burridge was over the moon with the nights events, saying:
“As if being the first manufacturer to run it's own team, and having riders in every class wasn't enough, to now have an evening where every class was graced by a green machine is unbelievable! I want to thank Bryan Mackenzie and Jeff Perrett for all their efforts in getting the team to each round, and to the riders who are putting everything on the line each week and achieving what they are. It is such a shame to see Kacey Hird out injured, I hope his recovery is as quick as possible.”
The team now move to rounds 4 and 5 which take place in Belfast on Friday and Saturday this week.
