Race win and Podium for Searle at Round One of the Maxxis British Championship

Round One of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship took place at a very wet and windy Fatcat Motoparc yesterday with Tommy Searle looking to get back to his winning ways, riding for the BOS GP Kawasaki team on the all new KX450.

Conditions were treacherous after a lot of rainfall made the track very tough going on both man and machine! Searle began the day setting the fifth fastest time in qualifying, setting himself up with a good gate pick for the days two races. Race one was made tough for Searle after getting a poor start, but he soon made his way through the pack and crossed the line in third position.

Race two saw Searle gain a much better start, and settle in behind title rival, Shaun Simpson. He spent the race catching up and passing Simpson and then gapping the Scotsman by 22 seconds at the flag! Searle ended the day on the podium in second overall and sits just behind Simpson in the points standings heading into round two in a months' time.

New team to Kawasaki for 2019, Phoenix Tools Apico Kawasaki dug deep with MX1 rider Gert Krestinov achieving two solid seventh places to take seventh overall on the day. Team mate Carlton Husband unfortunately withdrew from racing on the dsay suffering the after effects of his dislocated shoulder from the week previous.

The Maxxis British Championship now moves to round two in one months' time to the Norfolk  based track of Lyng.
