Wins and podiums for Team Green at British Superbike opener

After a long wait for racing action start, fans of the British Superbike Championship were finally treated to a weekend of bar banging action at Donington Park this weekend, despite being forced to watch from their sofas at home.

As eager to get going was the riders and teams, lining up on the grid, drenched in sunshine and all keen to battle at the front. New to Team Green, and to the paddock for 2020 is Affinity Sports Academy and they were on fire in the Junior Supersport class! Lead rider, Owen Jenner really stamped his authority by qualifying on pole position and taking both race wins on his Ninja 400!

Equally as impressive was the Kawasaki presence in the Junior Superstock field. The Ninja ZX-6R appears to be the bike of choice for this class, and JR Performance rider, Ben Luxton showed exactly what it was capable of, again taking pole position and the race win.

The success for the ZX-6R continued into the Supersport class with James Westmoreland starting off how he finished last season, on the podium with two excellent second place finishes.

After a recent test for the Superbike class at the same track, we knew it was going to be ultra competitive come race day, and so it was! FS-3 Racing Kawasaki were confident coming into the weekend after Lee Jackson had topped the timesheets at the recent test and Danny Buchan was also showing strong consistent form.

After a strong qualifying session both riders were keen to impress in the races, of which there were three under the new format for 2020.Buchan suffered an unfortunate crash in race 1 after being pushed wide into the final chicane, but fought back to achieve two fifth place finishes on Sunday, setting himself up well for the tracks coming up next which favour the Kawasaki. Jackson, only returning to the Superbike class in 2020 rode consistently all day to claim top ten finishes and move to round two in tenth place in the Championship.

Round two will take place at Snetterton in two weeks time.
